OUTSOLE: The outsole is basically the very bottom of the shoe that hits the pavement.
Outsoles can be made from SBR (sulfur butadiene rubber), traditional gum rubber, and various other materials.
UPPER: The upper is the top part of a shoe that is adhered to the foxing and outsole, it can be made from a variety of materials.
When designing an upper, many things are considered: flexibility, weight, durability, breathability, and fit. Footwear uppers range from the very simple to the very complex.
SOCKLINER: Sockliners separate the sock from the midsole and provide support and cushioning to the foot.
